The Celtic Manor Resort
Installation of New Artificial Tee Line and Surround on The 2010 Driving Range
The Celtic Manor Resort hosted the 2010 Ryder Cup and served as the venue for the NATO Summit in 2014. Crafted as the centrepiece for a truly memorable Ryder Cup, The Twenty Ten inaugural course stands as a testament to being the first ever tailored for golf’s premier team tournament, measuring a robust 7,493 yards off the back tees with a par of 71. The course remains a cherished venue, hosting the luminaries of the European Tour for the prestigious Cazoo Open. Inscapes were contracted to install a new artificial tee line and surround on the 2010 Driving Range.
The project started with the excavation of the pre-existing tee surface. A wooden frame was installed to provide a clear and defined edge, offer stability, prevent weeds and improve maintenance. Thorough base preparation was executed for the tee line and surround areas, with the base compacted using a level and a Wacker plate to ensure stability, load-bearing capacity, uniformity, and long-term durability. Artificial grass was installed to 16 bays and a 2-meter path of fringe carpet prior to sand infill and brushing.
